Christian Homeschooling is the Great Equalizer

My father administered one of the first Head Start programs decades ago.  He led a summer school camp for “underprivileged” kids.  That meant they were in abject poverty.  He took me with him one day and it is a day that is still deeply etched in my memory.  We were average middle class and did not have a fancy home or lifestyle.  These kids were genuinely dirt poor.  It impacted me deeply.  To this day, I feel a deep burden to help lift children out of the insidious effects of poverty.

One such effect is a poor education, and everything that ensues from that – poor life choices, illiteracy, out of wedlock pregnancies  (further perpetuating the cycle of poverty), poor or non-existent vocational training and opportunities, and generational poverty.  In Christian vernacular we could speak in terms of generational curses.  Every family has them; but when you’re stuck in a cycle of generational poverty and poor education, it is nearly impossible to dig your way out.  Fortunately “with God all things are possible” and Jesus has redeemed us from the curse.  (Galatians 3:13)

Here’s what we know: “In government schools, students who come from low-income families have significantly lower results than students from high-income families.  With a government school education, money matters.  What’s more, the educational level of the parents are key determinants of the educational success of their children: “In government schools, the children of highly educated families are the achievers; students from families with lower-level educational backgrounds score significantly lower on achievement tests.” So how do we end this vicious cycle?

Here’s the great news!  But in home-schooling, there is virtually no educational disparity between children of the most highly educated compared to those with a more minimal background. Every segment of the home-schooling community scores materially higher than government school averages.

This finding is so incredible – I invite you to read that last paragraph again!  What a window of hope!  And Christ Jesus is the door, to new hope and support for children to receive a nurturing, uplifting education that supports them to fulfill their Book in Heaven.

Thankfully we live in an age where technology in homeschooling can deliver great educational products and curriculum to children most anywhere.  There have never been more resources and supports for parents who want to home school their children.  There is hard-copy curriculum.  There is online curriculum.  There are support groups – both in-person and online through Facebook and other platforms.  Ed-Exit.com has compiled many of these resources free of charge, and we invite you to partake of them!  Our sole goal and mission is to inspire millions of parents to take the leap of faith into Christian homeschooling.  We’ll talk about the many benefits in a coming blog, including testimonials from homeschool parents.

A great education is the great equalizer in this world.  An education that incorporates the Word of God feeds a child’s spirit and soul, not just their intellect and curiosity; and is the Great Equalizer in the Spirit.  Now that is good news!  By dying as our sacrifice, he has broken down every wall of prejudice that separated us and has now made us equal through our union with Christ.”  Ephesians 2:14

Peace in Christ,
